OVERVIEW

The Office of the Brookline Parking Clerk is responsible for maintaining parking tickets, facilitating the payments, and overseeing the appeal process of these fines. Brookline Parking tickets follow in accordance with MGL Ch 90 Sec 20a½.

HOURS & LOCATION

The Brookline Parking Clerk Office is located in the Brookline Public Safety Building, 350 Washington St Brookline, MA 02445.

The Brookline Parking Clerk Office is available for assistance during the hours of Monday-Thursday 8:30am-4:30pm and Friday 8:30am-12:00pm.

The Office of the Parking Clerk also be reached by phone during regular business hours at 617-730-2230.

PARKING TICKET PAYMENTS

If a ticket has an RMV hold, please contact 617-730-2230 for assistance with making payments, as the Parking Clerk will need to remove the flagged status in the RMV database. All other tickets can be paid in the following ways:

PAY ONLINE

Payments can be made online 24 hours a day with ticket number(s) at https://brookline.rmcpay.com/

For assistance with recovering lost ticket numbers please call 617-730-2230 during regular business hours.

Parking tickets with RMV holds are not readily available for payment online, contact 617-730-2230 for tickets to be authorized.

Tickets with an RMV hold will be released from the RMV in approximately 1 business day from payment.

Either ticket # or registration # must be provided for payment to be accepted.

Whole tickets must be paid for in the exact amount due no partial payments are accepted. Personal checks are not accepted for payments of tickets with an RMV hold. RMV hold must be paid in the form of money order or certified bank check.

PAY IN PERSON

Payments for all parking tickets can be made in person at the Office of the Parking Clerk during regular business hours and during in-person appeal hours.

Acceptable forms of payment are: cash, check, money order, or credit card (Mastercard/Visa/Discover).

Whole tickets must be paid for in the exact amount due, no partial payments are accepted.

Personal checks are not accepted for payments of tickets with an RMV hold.

PARKING TICKET APPEALS

Do not pay ticket(s) until determination of the Appeal Officer. Payment of ticket is considered final disposition and will void any appeals in process.

Please allow 4-6 weeks for online appeals and 2 weeks for mail appeals. Response times may vary.

If a ticket is mitigated or upheld the registered owner will have 30 days to pay from the decision date the designated fees. If payment is not received in 30 days the ticket will revert to amount due at time of appeal, and penalties as outlined by law will commence.

Appeal letters must include the name and address of the person appealing the ticket and any evidence, diagrams or documentation supporting the appeal.

APPEAL IN PERSON

Appeals in person are only done during the assigned appeal hours. No appointment is necessary. Appeals are seen on a first come basis.

In person appeal hours are Monday and Wednesday 5:00pm-6:30pm or Tuesday 9:00am-11:00am.

Appeals will not occur on holidays, holiday eves, or holiday weekends.

Report to the Office of the Parking Clerk to sign up for an appeal.

A copy of the ticket is not necessary so long as the registration number can be provided. Individuals are responsible to bring any evidence they deem pertinent to their appeal.

Notices received with assigned appeal dates do not need to be rescheduled with the Parking Clerk. Individuals may come in during any of the regular appeal times listed, or appeal via mail or online.

Appeals or payments must be received within two weeks after the assigned appeal date or the ticket can be subject to further penalties.

ACCIDENT REPORTS

Not all traffic accidents will generate an incident report generally, as most accidents are a civil matter, Brookline Police Officers on the scene are there to assist the motorists with the exchanging of information.

PARKING PERMISSION/PERMITS

As a courtesy the Brookline Police Department may grant parking permission for up to 2 days. These exceptions are done on a case by case basis, and the Department reserves the right to deny permission at any time.

Apply for a Temporary Parking Permit through the Transportation Division for any parking permission sought for longer than 48 hours.

For daytime parking permission contact the Office of the Parking Clerk during business hours at 617-730-2230.

For overnight parking permission contact the non-emergency line after 3:30pm at 617-730-2230.

Upon requesting permission please provide the registration # and location of the vehicle.

All Town wide parking bans or permissions can be found on the Brookline Police social media sites.

PARKING PERMITS

The Brookline Police Department does not issue parking permits of any kind. Please direct all inquiries to the Brookline Transportation Division, 617-730-2177.

Broken Meters


All broken meters can be reported for repairs through the BROOKONLINE website.

When reporting a broken meter, please have the parking meter number, street location, and a brief synopsis of the malfunction.

Moving Violations

All moving violation payments and appeals regarding moving violations are processed by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles.
